hitching a ride
I came out of the house the other morning ready to run some errands when who do I see on top of my car? It's my early morning visitor again, one of the hawks who lives in the tree three doors down. This time he -or she? The female hawks are usually bigger than the males - wasn't nearly so shy and I had to open up a door and slam it shut so she'd fly away.

My digital camera is too slow to catch the yellow bird out of my window...aybe a finch??not a birder...but this is lovely..I am impressed.
It is a immature Coopers Hawk. Probably born or hatched this year. I can't tell if it is a male or not but I am guessing it was fascinated by a reflection in your car and he was there waiting for the reflection to move.
Nice shot.

Must be some good eating in the neighborhood. The hawk population in my area has exploded in the last ten years.
